Divine Liturgy Added 12/25/20
21/12/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

I spoke with Fr. Michael Carney this week about the feast day in Lake Odessa this year. We decided, given the pandemic, it is better not to mix our parish families at this time. Therefore, rather than encouraging folks to go to Lake Odessa this year we will have Liturgy at St. Vladimirs. Please join us on December 24 at 6:00 p.m. and December 25 at 8:00 a.m. for the Divine Services for St. Herman of Alaska. All are welcome! Please sign up on our parish home page so well be able to manage the number of people. If there is not enough space in the church proper well move the services to the winter worship space.

Brethren and fathers, God, who fashioned us and brought us out of non-existence into being, has placed us in this life as in a schoolroom to learn the gospel of his kingdom.

Emergency Cards Available
18/12/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The diocese has provided each of our parishes with Emergency Cards. These cards are to be filled out and put in your wallet so that if it were ever to happen that you were in an accident or otherwise needed spiritual support, but could not speak for yourself, the authorities would find the card in your wallet and call Fr. Gregory to come to you. We hope none of our parishioners ever needs to use one of these cards, but it is a good idea to have one just in case. Please see Fr. Gregory if you have questions. Emergency cards can be found near the front doors - near the pamphlets that are available to all for free.

Vigil for St. Nicholas will be at 6:00 p.m. on 12/18/20 in the church. But given the large number of people who want to attend the Divine Liturgy we have MOVED THIS SERVICE TO THE WINTER WORSHIP SPACE! Please note this change, and please share it with those you know who are planning to attend Liturgy. And please dress accordingly!

Commemorations at the Divine Liturgy
17/12/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The single best way for us to pray for our friends and loved ones is to arrange for them to be remembered at the Divine Liturgy. We serve approximately 130 Divine Liturgies per year, so your friends or loved ones will be prayed for approximately ever three days as a rule at St. Vladimir's. Please visit the page linked below to learn more and to arrange for your friends and loved ones to be commemorated at the Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimirs

Silence in Church Please - EVEN IN THE BARN
17/12/20, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

It is important that we make an effort a real effort to refrain from speaking in church. Since we have been outside most of the summer we have unfortunately adapted our outside paradigm to church services rather than our church paradigm to being outside. LET'S NOT DO THIS AS WE BEGIN WORSHIPING IN THE BARN! If one absolutely must have a conversation during the time of the Divine Services this should be done either:

1. In the kiosk area IN VERY HUSHED TONES. The acoustics are excellent in the barn. The choir's beautiful voices carry throughout the space very readily - as do your conversations. :)

2. Outside (but please do not slam the barn door)

3. Most appropriately, unless the conversation involves a life or death situation: at the meal after the Divine Liturgy

4. We ask parents that if they bring toys for their children that these be soft toys that to do not make noise when dropped on the floor or on the benches.

Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or concerns.

St. Nicholas Commemorated this Saturday

Posted by Fr. Gregory

Please join us Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday at 9:00 a.m. for the annual commemoration of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker! If you cannot come to Vigil or Liturgy please try to join us on one of our live streams.

FIND ST. VLADIMIR LIVE STREAMS

All are welcome! The evening services will be inside the church, so we ask that you sign up. This allows us to understand the number of people that will attend since we have limited, physically distanced spaces inside the temple. The link to the sign up sheet can be found on our parish home page. If you have any trouble finding that please email: info@stvladimriaami.org. The Liturgy will be in the winter worship space - no sign up is required, but masks and social distancing are.

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
16/12/20, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the childrens portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Adults: from the writings of Blessed Theophylact

For Children: from the Antiochian Archdiocese (various age groups)
