Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
27/12/17, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the childrens portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

We need a few more folks to learn how to plow snow so that we have enough folks to make sure we are covered for each and every storm. Right now we have three people trained. It would be good to have at least two more. If you can help please contact Fr. Gregory, Konstantin Poplavsky, or Vasily Golubets. Reach out at info@stvladimiraami.org, 734-475-4590, or see one of them at church! Men and women are welcome to join the team!

Congratulations to those Celebrating Nativity Today

We congratulate all our parish friends and family who are celebrating the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ today. Although we will not celebrate for 13 days as a parish we understand that most of our society is celebrating today - and whether you celebrate today or in 13 days it is still remarkable and noteworthy that more than 2000 years after the birth of the Savior the world still pauses to note His Incarnation on this day. May this be the year that the hymn of the angels heard all those centuries ago over Bethlehem be actualized in our world: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, goodwill and peace.

Monday First Things: Teachings of the Holy Fathers
25/12/17, 06:00 AM

They asked Abba Sisoes, If a brother sins, surely he must do penance for a year? He replied, That is a hard saying. The visitors said, For six months? He replied, That is a great deal. They said, For forty days? He said, That is a great deal, too. They said to him, What then? If a brother falls, and the agape is about to be offered, should he simply come to the agape, too? The old man said to them, No, he needs to do penance for a few days. But I trust in God that if such a man does penance with his whole heart, God will receive him, even in three days.
