Each year around the feast of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica (whose relics reside in our parish foundation) there is a special Church-wide commemoration of the departed: Demetrius Saturday. This year Demetrius Saturday falls on November 2. At St. Vladimir's we will hold Vespers & Matins on Friday, November 1 at 6:00 p.m. and Divine Liturgy and a Pannykhida on Saturday, November 2 at 8:00 a.m. Please email names for the memorial services to info@stvladimiraami.org or visit our commemoration page and fill out the form there:

COMMEMORATION REQUESTS

Differentiate between Orthodox and non-Orthodox departed. We pray for both, but we pray differently and we want to do this appropriately – according to the Church’s established practices.

Second Pascha of Original Ann Arbor Parish is Sunday
31/10/24, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The parish that existed in Ann Arbor in the 1950s, and was subsequently dissolved when no priest could be sent after the death of Fr. Peter DeMett, was named in honor of the Venerable Hilarion the Great. This is why we have an icon of St. Hilarion on our iconostasis – as a sort of spiritual continuity with those who first founded a Russian Orthodox Church here in Ann Arbor .The feast of St. Hilarion this year falls on Sunday, November 3. We invite all St. Vladimir’s parishioners on this day to fervently entreat the prayers of the favorite of God, St. Hilarion the Great, that the work begun by those first Russian Orthodox Christians in Ann Arbor will be continued worthily by us sinners, the parish family of St. Vladimir Church. Join us this Sunday to celebrate St. Hilarion in the most Orthodox way possible – to be present at the Divine Services in his honor! Learn more about St. Hilarion at the links below:

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
30/10/24, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers

"Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?" How obvious is the truth of the word of God: "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Mt. 6:29-30, 33). I’ve experienced this myself: Since the time I began earnestly seeking and taking care only to please the Lord in prayer and works of mercy to others, I have almost no need to take care for myself, that is, for my eternal needs. By the grace of God, kind people clothe me, shoe me, and host me, and it would be considered an offense if I didn’t accept their zeal.
