ďWe cannot live in such a way that no one grieves or offends us, for the Apostle Luke writes: we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God (Acts 14:22), and bear ye one anotherís burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ (Gal. 6:2). Let us therefore ask that we may bear sorrows with self-reproach and humility and not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good, and with the Prophet say: With them that hate pace I was peaceable (Ps. 119:6).Ē

IOCC Kits this Dormition Fast
8/8/19, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The Lenten period in preparation for the feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God begins August 14. It is our tradition to make IOCC School Kits (to help kids in countries that need to bring their own school supplies to school in order to attend school) during this Lenten period. Weíll do the same this year. On Sunday, August 18 we will have a special collection to support this effort. If you canít make it that day please contact Marina Edwards to make your donation. On Saturday, August 24 we will make the school kits following the Divine Liturgy (starting about 10:30 a.m.). This is an important effort to get our KIDS involved in. They will be helping their peers in other countries to be educated. Please plan to join us in supporting this important effort!

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
7/8/19, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the childrenís portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Adults: from the writings of Blessed Theophylact

For Children: from the Antiochian Archdiocese (various age groups)

If you have questions please contact Fr. Gregory. Yes Ė this is only a few weeks ahead of the festival and those who are working hard on the festival should not feel that they need to help with this event. But those who are NOT working hard on the festival SHOULD feel that they need to help with this event Ė an event that is so important for our parish, deanery, and diocesan youth. Please pitch in Ė many hands make light work!

We are having a technical problem with our live stream. We are working on this, but the timing is difficult with Fr. Dmitry traveling out of the country beginning today. We appreciate your patience as we work to get our broadcast back up and running, but this might take a few weeks.

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers
5/8/19, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

ďA terrible accident has a power to awaken us to the realization of the existence of various calamities and dangers surrounding us, from which the Providence of God preserves us. At the same time it convincingly persuades us to acknowledge our own infirmity and weakness and to seek the Fatherís protection and His most powerful defense, which affirms us in the Wisdom and the Word of God, which came down from above by the will of the Heavenly Father under a curtain of flesh like ours, woven by the Divine Might from the Immaculate Virgin, for our salvation. He became man and taught us to pray that we be not led into temptation. This reminds us from what Father we have our existence, and this in turn should make us seek our heavenly Fatherland and our eternal inheritance.Ē
