Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers
5/8/19, 06:00 AM

“A terrible accident has a power to awaken us to the realization of the existence of various calamities and dangers surrounding us, from which the Providence of God preserves us. At the same time it convincingly persuades us to acknowledge our own infirmity and weakness and to seek the Father’s protection and His most powerful defense, which affirms us in the Wisdom and the Word of God, which came down from above by the will of the Heavenly Father under a curtain of flesh like ours, woven by the Divine Might from the Immaculate Virgin, for our salvation. He became man and taught us to pray that we be not led into temptation. This reminds us from what Father we have our existence, and this in turn should make us seek our heavenly Fatherland and our eternal inheritance.”

Our parish grass is growing again! And it is growning with zeal! It is important that we present a good first impression to those that come to God's House, and a well-kept lawn is a key part of this imperitive. Please sign up below for one or two weeks for this grass cutting season. If we all pitch in the grass will look great, and we'll also have time to take care of our other warm weather duties at our own homes!

IOCC Kits this Dormition Fast
1/8/19, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The Lenten period in preparation for the feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God begins August 14. It is our tradition to make IOCC School Kits (to help kids in countries that need to bring their own school supplies to school in order to attend school) during this Lenten period. We’ll do the same this year. On Sunday, August 18 we will have a special collection to support this effort. If you can’t make it that day please contact Marina Edwards to make your donation. On Saturday, August 24 we will make the school kits following the Divine Liturgy (starting about 10:30 a.m.). This is an important effort to get our KIDS involved in. They will be helping their peers in other countries to be educated. Please plan to join us in supporting this important effort!

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
31/7/19, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Adults: from the writings of Blessed Theophylact

For Children: from the Antiochian Archdiocese (various age groups)

St. Vladimir’s Day Thank You!
29/7/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Thank you to all who made our Second Pascha such a great success! Close to 100 people partook of Holy Communion from two chalices on our feast day! The services were sung beautifully by our choir! Our Sisterhood prepared an amazing meal! Our Brotherhood did all that was needed to make the feast run smoothly behind the scenes! Our servers managed the visit of many clerical guests and their other duties marvelously! And we welcomed LOTS of guests. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HARD WORK!

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers

“And I, a sinner, have been trying to love God for more than forty years, and cannot say that I perfectly love Him. If we love someone we always remember him and try to please him; day and night our heart is occupied with that object.

Is that how you, gentlemen, love God? Do you often turn to Him, do you always remember Him, do you always pray to Him and fulfill His holy commandments? ‘For our good, for our happiness at least let us make a vow that from this day, from this hour, from this minute we shall strive to love God above all else and to fulfill His holy will.'”
