Stewardship Education Communication Quarter I 2022 Follow Up

Last Sunday we had a very quick meeting about this. No one had any questions. And no one asked any questions at the Google Form. That is OK! But we can’t over-stress how important it is that we all – each of our parish family – establish a recurring donation to support St. Vladimir’s. Since the inflation rates started to skyrocket our recurring donations have gone down. That is understandable – the media is telling us all to be very afraid. But let us not give way to fear! The Lord does not forget those that support His Church. And those blessings come not just in the next life. Please also remember that as folks have trouble paying their bills there is MORE demand on our parish resources as we try to help those who are in need. The Parish Council met last Sunday and resolved to ask each and every one of our parish family members to establish a recurring donation – at whatever level possible.

How to establish a recurring donation? Visit our Donate Page below – choose any of the vendors we partner with to allow you to do this. And if it is not clear, please ask a Parish Council member. Any of us can get you help.

Finally – the peace that comes from prayerfully considering and then establishing a recurring donation is GREAT. Do not deprive yourself of that peace!

We are gearing up for our Microschool program this coming fall. But we need help! If you know about advertising, or are willing to help with advertising, please email info@a2oca.org. We have a GREAT school board, but we don’t have anyone who know about this. We can have the BEST PROGRAM (and we think we do), but if no one knows about it it just doesn’t matter. So help us spread the word! Volunteer to help with advertising our school today!

Please mark your calendars now for every second Saturday of the month for an all-parish work day. Every season. Every month. Inside. Outside. Always every second Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. please plan to join us to pitch in as we make our parish shine as the House of God that it is! Invite friends! Everyone is welcome! And it just isn’t fair to expect that “someone else” will do this. We all own our parish in that the Lord has given us to be here and to the responsibility that He has given us to care for His House.

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
20/7/22, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

Deacon Ordination August 27 - Instructions for Parishioners
19/7/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

God willing, Subdeacon Dmitri Mihaliov will be ordained a deacon on Saturday, August 27 for service at our St. Vladimir parish. Ordination is the sacrament of the Holy Church that we probably least often participate in, but it is important that we all participate in this ordination appropriately. We ask all our parishioners to review the ordination instructions here and to address questions to Fr. Gregory or Fr. Colin. Please remember - the Divine Liturgy begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27.

Cross Procession Sunday, July 24
18/7/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

In order to help our friends and neighbors learn about the existence of Orthodox Christianity (many people do not even know we exist!), we will conduct a series of Cross Processions in our local communities. The first will be July 24 after the parish meal. After the short procession (around 1 mile walking at most) we will end at some logical place (town square, etc.) and hold a short concert. We will provide a traditional Orthodox witness to our communities: we will have information about Orthodox Christianity available for those who are interested, and talk to those who would like to learn more. If you would like to take part in the Cross Processions please sign up at the link below:

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers

The freedom of rational faculties has always been tested and until now, is tested until they are confirmed in goodness. This is because goodness is not confirmed without trial. Every Christian is tested by something: one by poverty, another by illness, a third by various bad thoughts, a fourth by some calamity or humiliation, while another by various doubts. And through this, firmness of faith, hope, and love of God are tested.
