New Parking Spaces – Please be Attentive
25/11/16, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
Please note that with our new parking lots comes a new paradigm of providing reserved spaces for expectant mothers and for guests. We have placed signs in the spots that are reserved for this purpose. It is essential that those who are visiting for the first time find easy parking – this is the reason for the four guest spots we have reserved for guests. It is also essential that we support those families with young children – this is the reason for the two spots we have reserved for these families. The Church encourages us to have as many children as we reasonably can – we want to acknowledge that reality with our parking lot design. Reserved spots are found in the newly-paved lot just north of the handicapped lot. Thank you for your support of our efforts in this regard!

Liturgy on your Name's Day?
23/11/16, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
It is a true blessing to have the opportunity to partake of Holy Communion on one's patron saint's day. Fr. Gregory is willing to consider serving Liturgy on your name's day – yes YOURS. If you would be willing to attend the Divine Services on the eve of the feast and on the feast itself, and to partake of Holy Communion on that day please contact him. This is not a guarantee that we can do this – but we can certainly try. But please don't tell him a week before. Something like six months before would be better – three months before as a minimum. See Fr. Gregory with questions!

Weekly Educational Offering
23/11/16, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

Reinvigorating the Greeter Ministry
19/11/16, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
As our parish continues to build and grow we acquire a higher and higher profile in our community. This means more and more people hear about us. And this means more and more people come to visit us - to check us out and see if St. Vladimir's is a place for them. We only have ONE CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION - and this is what our Greeter Ministry is all about: welcoming new people to St. Vladimir's, making them feel at home, being a resource for their questions, helping resolve any issues they have while at St. Vladimir's, and providing a warm welcome for them to return when they leave.

TEENS ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE and will be paired with an adult for Sunday Greeter duties.

Welcoming Others to Church - Everyone's Job (You Too!)
15/11/16, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
You can only make a first impression once. That is why it is so important, and the responsibility of EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US, to warmly welcome visitors to our parish. Is the visitor not acting “appropriately”? Assure them that all will be fine and lovingly help. Is the visitor’s child fussy? Assure them that we welcome children in the church and not to worry. If they ask for a place to go to quiet the child please point out the nursery – do not push them out the door. Does the visitor have questions? Answer them if possible, and if not, refer them to someone who can. A smile and a welcoming word can make the difference in someone’s spiritual life both in this life and the next. Let us show love one to another so that people will know that we are Christ’s disciples! We want to be known for our warm hospitality as was Abraham – but we all must work together to make our parish as welcoming as we possibly can!
