DIVINE SERVICES WEEK OF OCTOBER 12, 2020

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

This year, with Fr. Moses now in Austin heading the parish there, and Fr. Gregory needing to be in Chicago for the feast day of the Diocesan Cathedral, our celebration of the Protection of the Mother of God will be in the EVENING of October 14. At 6:00 p.m. we will have our usual akathist to the Mother of God for the Ill, but this week we will read the akathist for the Protection of the Mother of God. Please join us as your personal schedule allows! Since we will be inside the church for this service, we ask you to sign up in advance:

Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday to help with the HUGE amount of work that we accomplished emptying the barn and preparing for the new cement floor to be poured in the near future.

WHY ARE WE CEMENTING THE BARN FLOOR? Because we need a place to worship as a parish family for the rest of the pandemic. Meeting outside is not going to be practical very soon, and meeting in the church proper is WAY TOO SMALL with physical distancing requirements!

Evening Services will be held on Sunday, October 11 at 6:00 p.m. with Divine Liturgy on Monday, October 12 at 8:00 a.m. Please join us as your personal schedule allows! Please see a letter from Fr. Gregory and Jack Mitchell regarding our need to arrange the barn in such a way that we can use it for worship during the upcoming colder months. Please plan to join us for the commemoration of the Venerable Sergius of Radonezh on October 7 at 6:00 p.m. and October 8 at 8:00 a.m. All are welcome! The services will be inside the church, so we ask that you sign up. This allows us to understand the number of people that will attend since we have limited, physically distanced spaces:

Converts especially: we are talking to you! Cradle Orthodox are welcome too, but those who have chosen as adults to come to the Holy Church often have a zeal to help others find the True Faith, and have good ideas in this regard about what worked well when they became Orthodox – and what didn’t. This is a chance to put those hard-learned lessons into practice to help welcome others to St. Vladimir’s, and potentially welcome them to the Holy Church!
