“Christians who believe in Christ make the sign of the cross upon themselves, not casually and disrespectfully, but with full attention, care, fear and trembling and all devout respect… For according to the respect each person show to the Cross, so he receives corresponding strength and help from God.”

The single best way for us to pray for our friends and loved ones is to arrange for them to be remembered at the Divine Liturgy. We serve approximately 130 Divine Liturgies per year, so your friends or loved ones will be prayed for approximately ever three days as a rule at St. Vladimir's. Please visit the page linked below to learn more and to arrange for your friends and loved ones to be commemorated at the Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimir’s

Electrical Issues at Church
31/8/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Last Sunday we got ourselves all set to serve the Divine Liturgy, and then the power went out. The weather was perfect – that obviously wasn’t the issue. Likely DTE needed to do some work on the lines and just turned off the power. That doesn’t happen super often, but we do lose power several times per year and it always seems to be on Sunday morning. That IS a problem because if we don’t have power we don’t have water. The Parish Council met that same Sunday and we decided that it is time for us to secure a full-building generator. So if you have one of those sitting around in your garage please consider donating it to the parish. :) But since that is very unlikely, we will begin raising funds for the generator. The cost is $5000 or so. If you’d like to help with this please contact our Starosta, Jack Mitchell, or our Treasurer, Mikhail Fisenkov. We’ll also do some special collections in the next little while to allow everyone to help with this project as they are able. Our parishioners have been very generous in materially supporting the parish during this pandemic and the Parish Council is very thankful! If you are in a position to help with this project please do help. Once the generator is in place we will never have to cancel services again because of an electrical outage!

Monday First Things: Teaching of the Holy Fathers

“The proud sin greatly who, after studying secular literature and having turned to the Holy Scriptures, consider all that they say to be the Law of God, and do not endeavour to come to know the thoughts of the prophets and apostles, but seek out from the scriptures inapropriate texts for their own thoughts, as if this were a good work, and not the most defiled kind of study: to distort the thoughts of Scripture and submit them to their own intentions, in spite of obvious contradictions… It is not proper to children and charlatans to try to teach that which they do not know.”
