Monday First Things: Teachings of the Holy Fathers

“The Lord did not come to make a display. He came to heal and to teach suffering men. For one who wanted to make a display the thing would have been just to appear and dazzle the beholders. But for Him Who came to heal and to teach the way was not merely to dwell here, but to put Himself at the disposal of those who needed Him, and to be manifested according as they could bear it, not vitiating the value of the Divine appearing by exceeding their capacity to receive it.”

Festival Sponsorship Committee - Join Us!
29/5/18, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

I was appointed head of the Sponsorship Team for the festival at the last meeting of the planning committee. I won’t be able to visit too many stores or vendors - that is just the reality of my schedule, but I can help coordinate this important work. The work really is important - our most profitable festivals have had an active sponsorship component. Please consider: could you volunteer to help in your area? Are you good working with people? Do you work in sales? This is one of those things where success only comes before work in the dictionary. We have to knock on X number of doors to get Y number of sponsorships. We have to work to be successful. The earlier we start the better. Please contact me if you can help! This will be fun and this will be a huge help to the festival and our parish!

THANK YOU! Divine Services Every Morning and Every Evening May 21-26
29/5/18, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Thank you to all who made it possible for us to serve Divine Liturgy and Evening Divine Services this last week! To those who sang, to those who served, to those to read, to those who helped in so many other ways: THANK YOU!!! It is a great blessing for our parish to have had ordinations last Sunday, and part of that blessing is the great opportunity to serve the Divine Services daily the week following the ordinations. This week we came together as a parish family and made this happen. This should show us that if we all work hard and ask the Lord to bless us in our work that He indeed will, and that trusting in God all that is for His glory is possible for us. May God continue to bless and guide us!

Preparing the Parish Church for Pentecost

The great feast of Pentecost is May 27. Please join us on Saturday, May 26 for a Memorial Divine Liturgy beginning at 9:00 a.m. Following the Liturgy we will decorate the parish church with boughs, branches, and flowers for the Pentecost vigil. This is a similar activity to our Lazarus Saturday church decoration in preparation for the Palm Sunday vigil. Many good memories are waiting to be had at these sorts of events. Please bring your children! It is especially important for them to participate in these sorts of activities. All are welcome!

Archbishop Peter Thank You!
21/5/18, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Thank you to all who made the visit of Archbishop Peter to our parish this weekend such a success! His Eminence joined us for Vigil on Saturday evening and Liturgy on Sunday morning. At the Liturgy on Sunday morning Mark Chaffee and Colin Bower were tonsured Readers for serve in our St. Vladimir Parish. Subdeacon Dmitry Kashchenko was ordained a Deacon to serve in our parish and Deacon Thomas Sprunger was ordained a priest to serve at the parish in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This was the first ordination of a priest in the history of our St. Vladimir’s parish! So many people worked hard to make Vladyka’s visit so fruitful and we thank you all: those who sang, those who served, those who cooked, and everyone else who worked quietly behind the scenes for the glory of God! This was a real triumph for our parish – thank you all! Many pictures are already up on our Facebook page. Eventually all will be posted on our photo album as well.
