Posted by Fr. Gregory

Thank you to all who made our fund raiser on April 22 such a resounding success! Thousands of dollars were raised for this crucial endeavor (details will soon be published), Orthodox Christians from all over Metro Detroit came together for a wonderful dinner with great food and entertainment, and we all left invigorated to spread the word to all about our school!

We ask your continued spiritual and material support! More soon to come about next steps in the founding of the Ann Arbor Orthodox Classical Academy!

As promised - a link to the Power Point presentation from April 22:

“Of course, it would be easier to get to paradise with a full stomach, all snuggled up in a soft feather-bed, but what is required is to carry one’s cross along the way, for the kingdom of God is not attained by enduring one or two troubles, but many!”

Peter Longan Deaconate Ordination
18/4/18, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

St. Vladimir Family,

Christ is Risen!

I have just received word from Peter Longan that, God willing, he will be ordained a Deacon this Sunday at the Moscow Theological Academy Church at St. Sergius Holy Trinity Monastery. Let us thank God that another our of St. Vladimir’s family will join the ranks of those that the Lord speaks of in this way:

“Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:26-28)

Let us pray for our Brother Peter that the Lord will grant him many years of fruitful servant-ministry in His Vineyard – the Holy Church! And let us pray for Elizabeth – that the Lord will strengthen her for her own ministry that comes with being the wife of a clergyman! Let us keep them both closely in our prayers this week as they prepare themselves for Peter’s ordination this Sunday.

God-willing, later this year Peter, Elizabeth, and their child set to arrive this June will move to Ann Arbor to serve our St. Vladimir parish.

Indeed He is Risen!

“Are you fighting against your passions? Fight, fight, and be good soldiers of Christ! Do not give in to evil and do not be carried away by the weakness of the flesh. During the time of temptation, flee to the Physician, crying out with the Holy Church, our mother: “O God, number me with the thief, the harlot, and the publican (i.e., with the repentant), and save me!”
